A project to establish a home for 12 young adults currently or at risk of experiencing homelessness received help from more than 100 volunteers on June 10. Mesa is a new nonprofit in the Ojai Valley that’s working to create a safe and welcoming home on 10 acres off Gorham Road, in Ojai's East End.

“Homelessness among this age group has jumped over 20% in the last two years. The problem is getting worse. It’s not going to go away until we change the way we address it,” said Dan Parziale, executive director of Mesa Farm, a nonprofit organization that is opening a home in East Ojai to serve transitional-age adults, ages 18 to 25, who are at risk of being homeless, including young adults from Ojai.
